Both the Mens and Ladies teams have made it safe and sound to Bosnia in preparation for the World Championships 2009. The base for the event is Banja Luka in the North of Bosnia at the Kanjon Rafting Centre. The teams have already paddled the sprint and slalom sections held in the local valley trying to key into the right lines and quickest routes down the rapids. On Wednesday the teams headed down to Montenegro on a 7 hour bus ride to paddle the endurance river, the Tara which runs through a beautiful gorge headed with tree lined limestone outcrops, some reaching 1000 meters. After two runs down the 17km section, both teams boarded the bus for the 7 hour journey back. The remaining days will be spent around the rafting centre training hard and resting up ready for the event to start on Tuesday the 19th. Stay tuned for more pictures and updates.

Fantastic news!!! I look forward to reading your report on the team blog
Absolutely brilliant. Congratulations to Mens and Womens Teams on your gold medals. Look forward to hearing about it!!
As a Brit living in Banja Luka I was very proud of both the men and womens team performances. A fantastic result in the H2H. Well done.
I have just emailed the bbc website saying "I was disappointed not to see any mention in your sports page of the British Whitewater Rafting team's performance in the opening day of competition in the world championships in Bosnia. Both the mens and the ladies team won gold medals!!"
Their reply was "Thank you for your email.
Why aren't you covering such and such a sport/such and such world championships? We only have limited resources and have to spread those resources across a great number of sports, including many minority sports which other commercial channels do not cover.
On the website, our 606 (www.bbc.co.uk/606) site means you can create your own reports - if you are passionate about your sport why not write your own article!"
Perhaps someone from the team might like to do this?
AWESOME effort all of you ! You must be buzzing !
How have the second teams fared ?
All the best for the slalom
Thinking of you all
